Both of these are labeled “C,” but a 34C holds noticeably more volume than a 32C. That’s because the C cup on a 34 band reflects a 3-inch bust-to-band difference on a bigger starting number the actual bust measurement is larger.
Real numbers
- 32C: roughly a 35-inch bust
- 34C: roughly a 37-inch bust
That’s about a 2-inch difference in actual bust size, despite the identical cup letter.
What this means when shopping
If a friend recommends “just get a C cup,” ask what band she wears a 32C and a 40C are very different bras. Always pair the cup letter with the band number.
