On a 38 band, moving from a C to a D cup adds roughly one more inch of bust-to-band difference about 4 inches total for the D, versus 3 inches for the C. The band fit itself doesn’t change between the two.
Fit checklist
- Cup edges leave marks, or breast tissue spills over the top → try the 38D
- Center gore doesn’t lie flat, or fabric gapes at the top of the cup → try the 38C
- Straps constantly slipping, even tightened → often a sign the cup is under-filled, pointing to a smaller cup letter
Why the band should stay put
If the 38 band itself feels comfortable and level around your ribcage, there’s rarely a reason to change it just because the cup feels off adjust the cup letter first.
