Both a 36B and 36C are built around the same 36-inch band, so the support around your ribcage won’t change between the two. The difference is entirely in cup depth about one extra inch of bust-to-band difference for the C cup.
What to check first
Put on your current bra and look at how the cup sits:
- Wrinkled or loose fabric, especially near the top → the cup may be too big; a 36B could be the better fit
- Bulging, spillage, or the underwire not sitting flat against your ribcage → the cup may be too small; try a 36C
A common mistake
Many people size up the band when the cup feels tight, ending up in a 38B instead of correcting to a 36C. This usually results in a band that’s too loose to give real support, even though the cup feels more comfortable.
